Adobe Illustrator cs3 pen tool question?

I looked at some tutorials about the pen tool. When they make a path it seems like the path automatically turns into a regular black line. However, when I make path, it just stays red. How do I turn it into a real line?Adobe Illustrator cs3 pen tool question?

when you using pen tool, its use the same color of last object you selected, select the path double click on the stroke icon in the toolbox select black or press D
