I just installed Illustrator CS3, but having problems saving files. get ';an unknown error has occurred';? help?

All of the features work perfectly, but the save file option. I had issues with Illustrator 10 with saving without making a copy, and upgraded, hoping to avoid this situation, I think it has something to do with Adobe Reader 8 as I never had this problem before upgrading to Reader 8.I just installed Illustrator CS3, but having problems saving files. get ';an unknown error has occurred';? help?
Hi

Take a look at this forum:

Also, it might be worth downloading an alternative PDF reader, such as Foxit:

(You can then uninstall Adobe Reader)

HTH,

DeepI just installed Illustrator CS3, but having problems saving files. get ';an unknown error has occurred';? help?
I am suffering this problem at the moment...

(only on a complex piece of work with placed images, - no problem with simple work)

I have just managed to save the 'unsaveable' file by removing any placed images and replacing them with 'linked' versions (as opposed to directly 'placed' images)

- also as a backup I copied all my linework into another file (as a single layer with no placed images ....saved in about 3 seconds as opposed to the '2 minute save then error message' I was encountering with the original file)

Deleting your preferences file may also fix the problem.

UPDATE: By deselecting ';PDF Compatibility'; in the Save Dialog Box, my 'Save' time dropped from about 1 minute to about 3 seconds....

I got that tip from the following link (amongst a couple of others to try)
