There regular pen tool is for drawing, there are two additional pen tools, one with a plus next to it and one with a minus next to it. They are for adding and subtracting points from a shape. Then the one that looks like an open triangle is used to add handles to make curves on a point that previously did not have handles.





Fill, fills the shape with a color. Stroke adds color around the outside of a shape. A gradient is a transition from one color to another within a shape.
